Frankenmuth Hotels Downtown: The Drury Inn at 260 South Main St – Day 1

Frankenmuth Michigan – A Christmas Shopping Town

Greetings from Frankenmuth, Michigan! As a retired tour bus driver who has crisscrossed countless miles, I find myself drawn back to this delightful town, known for its warm hospitality and picturesque Frankenmuth hotels downtown. After 40 years behind the wheel, guiding adventurers through breathtaking landscapes, I’m now ready to explore these familiar streets on my own terms, diving deeper into the heart of Frankenmuth with no itinerary to follow.

Departure and the Sarnia Bridge

I hit the road at the crack of dawn this morning, around 8 AM, and made my way here, arriving just around the noon hour. The journey was smooth sailing—literally, considering the border crossing at Sarnia Port Huron was unusually quiet today. The customs agent was in high spirits, which made the crossing a breeze.

My first stop was the Birch Run Premium Outlets. Couldn’t resist a bit of shopping and, of course, a bite to eat at Jimmy John’s. For those who don’t know, Jimmy John’s has been serving up scrumptious submarine sandwiches since 1983. It’s a favorite pitstop of mine, reliable and always hits the spot.

The Drury Inn Frankenmuth Michigan

Once I’d refueled, I made a quick jaunt around Frankenmuth, just to get my bearings again. I decided to save the photo ops for tomorrow when I can really take my time to appreciate and capture the beauty of this place. Tonight, I’m resting my head at the Drury Inn on 260 Main St. S., a cozy spot that I’ve heard good things about.

A picturesque view of the Drury Inn & Suites Frankenmuth, showcasing its distinctive Tudor architectural style. The hotel features a striking contrast of white stucco with dark timber framing, complemented by a series of colorful hanging flower baskets. The entrance is marked by a welcoming sign above the door, and various flags flutter on a light breeze, providing a warm, international welcome to guests. This image represents the inviting atmosphere and architectural beauty typical of Frankenmuth hotels downtown.

Speaking of the Drury Inn, they host a delightful evening kickback from 5:30 to 7 PM, where guests are treated to three complimentary drinks—alcoholic or non-alcoholic—and a variety of hors d’oeuvres. It’s a lovely touch, and the food was delicious, an assortment that could please any palate.

Tomorrow, after a hearty breakfast here at the inn (included, might I add!), I plan to truly wander through Frankenmuth, camera in hand. It’s a chance to see things through a different lens—not just as a guide, but as a visitor myself, relishing in the nooks and crannies I might’ve missed while on the job.
